Abstract

Multichannel parallel-flow heat exchangers which are modelled assuming that the overall heat transfer coefficients and fluxes of heat capacities are independent of the temperature are termed ‘lineartype exchangers’. The mean driving force defined for such exchangers has, in matrix notation, a form analogous to that for two-channel exchangers. It may be shown that for constant values of the coefficients it becomes an analogue of the logarithmic mean temperature difference.
