Abstract
Secondary and tertiary benzylic alcohols are reduced conveniently tothe corresponding aryl alkanes by using Me 3SiCl-NaI-CH 3CN reagent in hexane. The reaction was successfully applied to a short step synthesis of (±)-ar-turmerone.
