Abstract

A molecular dynamics simulation of a 2-D system of charged dust particles was performed, taking into account the dipole moments of dust particles. The impact of a nonzero dipole moment on the structural properties of the system was analyzed on the basis of a pair correlation function. The possible method of the experimental observation of the dipole interaction between dust particles and that of the measurement of the dust particle’s dipole moment in gas discharge complex plasmas are discussed.
