Abstract
The author analyzes, among others, the origins of the young-age text by Zygmunt Krasinski entitled Mściwy karzel i Maslaw, ksiąze mazowiecki . Following other scholars, he associates the composition’s writing with the press note Zamek Wegierski Kseith in “Dziennik Warszawski” in 1826. It is that year which is believed to be the hypothetical date of the creation of Krasinski’s little work. According to him, the evidence for that is not only the time of printing the note, but also the ineptitude of form in Krasinski’s story, as well as the dependencies (described in the article) on The Black Dwarf by Walter Scott, translated into Polish also in 1826. Some data is also provided by the memoirs by Konstanty Gaszynski. In the further part of the article the author discusses the history of reception of Mściwy karzel and analyzes the proper and stylistic interferences which Krasinski’s composition was subject to in “Zbieracz Literacki” in 1838, reissuing it eight years after the first printing in 1830 in “Pamietnik dla Plci Pieknej”.
