Abstract
The second edition of a single-volume reference work covering the full range of engineering disciplines - theory, instruments, equipment and practice. It includes 900 alphabetically arranged articles - over 200 new to this edition - in all major engineering disciplines: civil, mechanical, industrial, electrical power, design, nuclear, mining, manufacturing, petroleum, electrical, and metallurgical. Hundreds of drawings, tables, charts, graphs and photographs serve to amplify the text and make the principles and applications easy to understand. The Encyclopedia aims to serve the needs of engineers, students, librarians, technical writers, interested laypersons, and all others concerned with the theory and practice of engineering. A dual system of units (International System (SI) and Customary) is used throughout.
