Abstract

Carol McDaid, until recently with Capitol Decisions as the preeminent lobbyist for recovery and addiction, retired last month. An icon of parity for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, confidentiality for patients, and reimbursement for treatment providers, McDaid has been a tireless champion for the SUD field, patients, and people who just need help with SUDs. ADAW remembers her from many in‐person meetings, as well. In long‐term recovery herself, she recently told us that she was getting much hope from working with people in recovery, alongside her husband, John Shinholser.
