Abstract
Taken together, these three plays inspire reflection on the wide-ranging diversity of the modern Canadian landscape of experience. Monroe Scott’s one-hander McClure is an exercise in Canadian hero-making, Sky Gilbert’s The Dressing Gown explores various ins-and-outs of the Toronto gay scene, and Tomson Highway’s Dora Mavor Moore Award-winning The Rez Sisters provides a spirited portrayal of a group of Canadian native women caught between a marginalized existence and their dream of escape.
