Abstract

This paper reports on the results of investigations into the effective complex elastic compliances of a composite in the form of a multilayer piezoactive medium consisting of layers of polar dielectrics connected in series. Exact solutions for normal and inverse Maxwell-Wagner relaxations of elastic compliances are derived for the first time. The mechanical hysteresis loops corresponding to either a decrease or an increase in the elastic energy are analyzed. It is demonstrated that relaxation of elastic constants occurs only in piezoactive media.
