Abstract
An electrical technique that allows reorganization of single monolayers to be probed by measuring the Maxwell displacement current flowing across monolayers is described. The Maxwell displacement current is generated from single monolayers with the application of an external stimulus ( e.g. pressure, light or heat) in the absence of an external electric field. The current across octadecylamine monolayers with thermal stimulation is given as an example of the Maxwell displacement currents.
