Abstract

The cold rolling of pipe on KhPT mills with the maximum possible use of negative wall-thickness tolerance is considered. Special formulas permit the calculation of the minimum permissible pipe-wall thickness for maximum metal savings. Results for the rolling of large batches of austenitic and ferritic corrosion-resistant steel pipe show that metal savings of up to 8.7% relative to the rated mass are possible in controlled pipe rolling on KhPT mills.
