Abstract

Maximum torque per Ampere (MTPA) control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSM) with sinusoidal back electromotive-force (BEMF) has been studied extensively. This paper focuses on the MTPA control of IPMSM that exhibits non-sinusoidal back-electromotive-force (BEMF). This paper offers an analytical expression for average torque in IPMSM as well as a closed form of optimal current excitation for MTPA control. The optimal current is presented as a function of current harmonics with different. Hysteresis current control has been used for current injection in IPMSM. Validation through numerical calculation, Finite element analysis (FEA), and experimental results with detailed analysis are provided.
