Abstract

A deflector bang-bang and speed derivative methodology for controlling impulse turbine transients is developed. The control was implemented in a linear simulation to demonstrate its effectiveness in controlling load torque perturbations. The proposed controller strategy is implemented in a nonlinear simulation. The design was found to significantly reduce turbine off-speeds and nominal operating point settling times in both simulations. >
