Abstract

In this study, bender element was adopted to test the maximum shear modulus of cement-treated Singapore marine clay. The effects of factors such as cement content and total water content on the maximum shear modulus of cement-treated clay was evaluated. The maximum shear modulus of cementtreated clay is governed by cement content and total water content. At constant total water content, higher cement content will result in higher value of maximum shear modulus. However, when cement content is fixed, increase in total water content will result in decrease of maximum shear modulus.
