Abstract

This paper introduces a simple informative guideline on the safe and damage-free use of optical amplifiers being developed at the IECTC86 optical amplifier where the maximum permissible optical power in the optical amplifier is being identified under the conditions tested. “Higher than 1.2 W” is being identified as the optical power limit allowed in the amplifier fiber with “clean” connectors. More data are needed in order to more precisely identify the threshold value.
