Abstract

The fingerprinting positioning is a useful solution for User Equipment (UE) positioning in the communication system, and the basic pattern database can be constructed efficiently with the help of drive test or other estimation algorithms. It does not need any additional equipment to existing networks and is not sensitive to the channel states compared with Time of arrival schemes. As a classical scheme, the Maximum Likelihood (ML) is evaluated for UE fingerprinting positioning in Long Term Evolution (LTE) system in this paper. The proposed scheme is simulated taking into account measurements about signal strength and timing information, which all are affected by measurement errors. From the simulation results, the proposed method is superior to other positioning methods in LTE system and achieves high positioning accuracy.
