Abstract

The fundamental frequencies of laminated truncated conical shells with a given material system are maximized with respect to fiber orientations by using a sequential linear programming method with a simple move-limit strategy. The significant influences of shell thickness, shell length, shell radius ratio and cutout on the maximum fundamental frequencies and the associated optimal fiber orientations are demonstrated.
