Abstract

Skin peels have been used by aesthetic practitioners for many years to address visible signs of ageing and treat common skin conditions. This article discusses the role of aesthetic practitioners in the delivery of skin peel treatments, outlines tried and tested peel ingredients, and introduces some of the newer ingredients being used in modern peels. The article also considers skin preparation, application of peel solutions and aftercare advice, as well as alternative treatments and potential complications. The growing popularity of blended peels, benefits of added antioxidants, and effect these have on treatment outcomes are other key areas of interest.
