Abstract

Considering a doubly‐fed induction generator (DFIG) as the research object, and aiming at the mathematical model of DFIG in two‐phase synchronous rotating coordinate system, a fuzzy adaptive observer is designed. The observer can observe the rotor angular speed of the DFIG in real time, and then, the measuring device for angular speed can be saved. The angular speed controller is designed according to the principle of maximum wind energy capture. A kind of fuzzy terminal sliding mode method is used to control the decoupled rotor model of DFIG, which can restrain the chattering phenomenon effectively and realize tracking without steady‐state error in a limited period of time. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed method. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
