Abstract

Comparison of data obtained personally during 1989-1996 with data for 2018-2021. The children were undergoing inpatient treatment in the maxillofacial surgery department of the IMSP Children’s Clinical Hospital „E. Cotsaga”. Clinical observations on 119 children with odontogenic cysts of the jaws served as material for this work. The children were undergoing inpatient treatment during the years 1989-1996 and 85 children were hospitalized during the years 2018-2021. In the diagnosis of odontogenic cysts of the jaws, traditional research methods were used: examination, palpation, radiography, puncture of the cyst cavity. For the diagnosis of medium and large cysts we used the ultrasonic research method. Computed tomography should be used in those cases, when the cyst is located in complicated anatomical regions and a clear radiographic image cannot be obtained, in situations where the interrelation with the causal tooth or suspicionin the existence of other neoformations cannot be established.In the districts with high indications of spread of cysts of the jaws during the rehabilitation of the oral cavity to draw attention to teeth IV and V. In the practice of the dentist to use the methods of ultrasound research and computed tomography.
