Abstract

Abstract Maundy Thursday is a Christian holy day that occurs the day before Good Friday. The name “Maundy” is commonly regarded as having come from the Latin statement Maundatum novum do vobis , which Jesus said to his disciples the night he instituted the Lord's Supper, which was also the night before his crucifixion, when he told them, “a new commandment [ mandatum ] I give to you …” (John 13:34), that they were to love one another.
