Abstract

I am thrilled to announce that, with the Journal Board of Trustees' recommendation and the approval of the AANA Board, effective October 1, 2010, Matthew T. Provencher, M.D., has been named the first Deputy Editor of Arthroscopy. He will join me and Jim Lubowitz in our continuing efforts to strengthen the Journal as well as helping us to manage its steady growth.Matt graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy where he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi (National Honor Society), Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Honor Society), Sigma Pi Sigma (National Physics Honor Society), and named the Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Graduate. He was also a 4-year varsity oarsman and All-American at Navy. He completed his medical education at Dartmouth Medical School where he graduated with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.Matt completed his orthopaedic residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and his orthopaedic sports fellowship at Rush University under the direction of Bernard R. Bach, Jr., M.D. He has received the ISAKOS Science Award, the ISAKOS Richard Caspari Award (runner-up), the AOSSM Aircast Research Award, and was also both an AOSSM (Asia-Pacific) and an AOA John Fahey North American Traveling Fellow. Matt is a member of the Herodicus Society and the American Orthopaedic Association.Matt is in full-time academic practice as the Director of Shoulder, Knee, and Sports Surgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. He is an active member of AANA, AOSSM, ISAKOS, ICRS, and is the incoming President of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS). He is a prolific researcher and author, and has served Arthroscopy on the Editorial Board and most recently as an Associate Editor.We feel extremely lucky to welcome Matt as our first Deputy Editor.
