Abstract

The Mattevchi effect & the induction of a time varying EMF on the ends of a ferromagnetic material which has been placed in a variable magnetic field. Recently, this effect has been finding wider practical application as a result of its high sensitivity to external effects and its easy measurability (no need of special measurement coils). In this study the Matteuchi effect is examined in amorphous alloys based on Fe and Co. The Matteuchi EMF is measured as a function of magnetic fields, which vary in frequency and amplitude. The dependency of the Matteuchi EMF in various amorphous alloys on the rate of change of the magnetic field was determined. A new type of Matteuchi effect having two EMF maximums close to the coercive field has been discovered. The size of the maximum sensitivity to mechanical effects and their location depends on the frequency and amplitude of the external field.
