Abstract

Using matrices to express logical relations is one of the foundations of the approach proposed in this book. In this chapter we express a statement or a logical variable as a vector, and express a logical operator via its structure matrix. The action of a logical operator on logical variables can then be expressed as the semi-tensor product of the structure matrix of the operator with vectors of logical arguments (Cheng, Proc. 4th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians, pp. 641–668, Higher Edu. Press, Int. Press, Hangzhou, 2007; Cheng and Qi, Semi-tensor Product of Matrices—Theory and Applications, Science Press, Beijing, 2007).
