Abstract

Today, importance of electrical machines in human life increases every day. Due to technological developments, electrical machines have had a quite wide area of use (cell phone, computer fans, electrical home tools, electrical transport machinery etc.) Generally, Switched Reluctance Machine (SRM) is preferred in applications which require high rotation and high torque. Computer-Aided Design programs offer conveniences in design and improvement tasks of SRMs and other electrical machines. In this research, a CAD program which can be useful in determination of several parameters including general geometric structure (stator and rotor yorke, stator and rotor height), number of coils, conductor diameter and average torque has been developed. The program consists of M-files which operate with a figure file developed in Matlab environment. Depending on the iterations realised after program is operated, abovementioned parameters and flux curves in overlapping and non-overlapping rotor-stator pole positions of the machine are generated and geometric structure is recorded. After such realised tests, most appropriate geometric structure can be preferred considering average torque thus generated.
