Abstract

A unified theory on broadband matching of multiport networks is presented. It is shown that the characterization of the normalized scattering matrix, the problem of compatible impedances and the broadband matching of multiport networks terminated in frequency-dependent loads can all be stated in terms of the more convenient basic coefficient constraints. Thus, the three problems are in fact three facets on the existence of a complex normalized scattering matrix.
