Abstract

The source of the data on the internal geomagnetic field is the ground-based magnetic observations, aeromagnetic surveys, as well as the spaceborne measurements. The main EMF is determined by the temporal (over a year) and spatial (over the area of at least 106 km2) averaging of the field vector by each component. Carrying out measurements at each point of the Earth’s surface is almost impossible, and, actually, it is not a necessary problem. To determine the values of the magnetic elements at any location at a given time moment, the EMF maps are created based on the mathematical models assimilating the data from the ground and space observations.
