Abstract
Fundamental concepts involved in the mathematical modelling of human exposure to air pollutants are reviewed. The two pieces of information required to compute exposure—human activity patterns and pollutant concentration levels—are studied from the standpoint of models. Mathematical models of health effects resulting from exposure are also discussed. The paper closes with the introduction to an interactive computer program which computes exposure and health effects.
