Abstract

The ability to create and manage knowledge is commonly recognized as one the most important quality of the modern and innovative organization. The management of knowledge and skills, as well as the management of company competencies has turned out to be essential factors influencing performance of industrial processes. In the paper, the authors present the method and tools for competence modelling for enterprise knowledge management. Modelling competences as quantitative measures of knowledge workers performance provides a framework for effective human resource management within the knowledge based organisation. The authors explore possibilities of integrating existing competence description standards with mathematical methods of competence analysis into one common software framework. The product of this idea is the concept of reusable Competence Object Library.
