Abstract

This article presents a Matlab- Simulink mathematical model of micro and nanogrids with distributed generation intended for power system stability studies. The model adequacy is estimated using a validation performed with a physical model of a representative microgrid with a hydraulic generator. The mathematical model offers admissible accuracy and could be successfully used for approximate power system stability, control and educational studies.Additionally, the model offers valuable opportunities for test evaluation of approaches and control strategies for smart active power management in micro and nanogrids under island and grid- connected mode.
