Abstract
A mathematical description of all steps of sorption preconcentration in flow analysis systems is developed based on equations of material balance, mass transfer, and equilibrium distribution of micro components. The description of the sorption step allows calculation of the analyte distribution throughout the column. Further, the distribution is used as the initial boundary conditions for description of the desorption step. For practical calculation, a system of model equations is formulated and adopted to Comsol software. The numerical values of the parameters are derived from experimental data using a stepwise approximation method to achieve a minimal spread between the theoretical and experimental curves. An algorithm is developed for estimation of the confidence intervals for the parameters of the model based on the dispersion of the experimental data.
