Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of oxy-fuel combustion of crude oil is regarded as one of the major options for heat and power generation, due to its high density. In this work, we developed a kinetic model to evaluate the potential of heat generation from crude oil combustion in a combustor. Particular emphasis was placed on the influence of excess oxygen ratio (EOR) and reaction time on released greenhouse gas emissions and reaction temperature. Results showed that the reaction time is a key parameter on reaction temperature due to a considerable increase in the rate of reactions. It is also found that the EOR improves the char conversion and reaction temperature simultaneously.
