Abstract

A one-dimensional heat transfer model was developed that allows calculation of interface melt temperature gradient and interface locations in Bridgman-Stockbarger growth. A set of parameters appear naturally in this analysis. A parametric study was used to predict the effect of these parameters on temperature gradient and interface location. The validity of the model was tested by comparison with experimental results on the MnBi/Bi eutectic system. The agreement is fair.
