Abstract

In this paper a predictive model of heat transfer in film condensation on horizontal finned tubes is presented. It was assumed that the film flows under the action of surface tension forces in the fin zone and under the influence of gravitational forces in the open channel zone between two rectangular fins. The results of numerical calculations are compared with experimental data from the literature for Freon F-22 and with those obtained by the authors for water vapour. For all eight different geometries of the finned tubes studied good agreement between the numerical and the experimental results was found.
