Abstract

Summary This paper presents a brief description of a typical heat treating unit used in the glass industry and formulates a mathematical model for such a unit. Development of a simulation model using the principal of conservation of energy, Laplace transformation, infinite product expansion and state-space methods is described in detail. The method of estimating the model coefficients from experimental data is shown and typical simulation results are given and compared with experimental data where possible.
