Abstract

Mathematics is the inspiration for my drawings. In my art I have explored numerous areas of mathematics: Fibonacci numbers, Moebius strips, self-similarity, fractals, the Cantor set, and Chaos theory. It has become my mission to express the beauty and grace I see in mathematics in a purely visual language. Over the years I have developed a system of grids and mark-making to translate mathematical ideas into two-dimensional and three-dimensional abstract art work in the form of drawings, series' of drawings, and artists’ books. Drawing for me has become a form of meditation where I clear my mind completely by concentrating on counting the markings I make.
