Abstract

In addition to established genetic and postnatal exposures, there is growing evidence to suggest that prenatal factors may be important determinants of childhood asthma risk. We hypothesized that greater prenatal inflammation, marked by elevated C-reactive protein (CRP), would be associated with an increased risk for childhood asthma.
