Abstract

(Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2022;227:582–592) Pregnancy adds increased stress to the cardiovascular system of pregnant women. As a result, 1% to 4% of pregnancies are complicated by maternal cardiac disease, which increases the risk of adverse outcomes. Cardiac disease is a leading cause of indirect maternal mortality worldwide. Despite its prevalence and outcomes, a lack of systematic evidence exists that specify risks. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of cardiomyopathy on maternal pregnancy outcomes.
