Abstract

The species composition of anemonefishes (Pomacentridae, Amphiprioninae) and their host sea anemones (Actiniaria) on reefs of the Ly Son Islands (the northern part of Central Vietnam) is presented for the first time. Three species of anemonefishes associated with two species of the host sea anemones—Amphiprion clarkii in symbiosis with the sea anemone Stichodactyla mertensii, A. perideraion with the sea anemone Heteractis magnifica and A. sandaracinos with the sea anemone S. mertensii—were recorded in archipelago waters. Findings of A. sandaracinos on reefs of the Ly Son Islands makes it possible to expand the range of the species to the north along the coast of Vietnam.
