Abstract

Metal-air batteries have received significant attention lately due to their inherent safety, potentially high capacity and use of relatively inexpensive materials. We will present results from our work on a Zn-air battery using novel gel polymer electrolyte membranes and metal organic frameworks as masking agents for the negative electrode. The membrane enhances capacity due to higher ionic conductivity and water retention ability, while the metal organic framework improves cyclic stability of the Zn air battery. In this presentation, we will discuss the use of Polyacrylic acid/Polyacrylamide gel polymer electrolyte and MOF/Zn negative electrode.
