Abstract

A wide range of materials can be prepared using porous silicon template. The shape and pore size of the starting silicon template, along with the type of material and deposition conditions determine the final synthesized structures. In this work, chemical and electrochemical deposition of various metals and conducting polymers into porous silicon templates are demonstrated, with an emphasis on the processing issues associated with the deposition approach. The electrochemical deposition of polypyrrole into porous silicon template as a case study is addressed and thoroughly discussed.
