Abstract
Abstract: This short paper presents lexical data in vernacular Arabic collected in a text by the Medieval Tunisian writer Abū Bakr al-Qayrawānī al-Mālikī. After a presentation of the author, it is reminded the interest there would be in studying the material in vernacular Arabic from Tunisia in order to contribute to a better knowledge of the social history of linguistic habits. The textual material is exposed in Arabic script and divided into four main sections. The textual Arabic information is translated and sometimes, we add explanations on the significance of some words. Lastly, in a provisional conclusion, maybe the reader can appreciate how is necessary going on with this kind of research which tries to reassess the need to take into account the vernacular Arabic data compiled in written sources and the notion of language contact in Medieval Tunisia, mainly between Arabic, Berber, and Latin/Romance languages.
