Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the component of primary school mathematics curriculum according to the opinions of teachers. In this regard, the need emerged as a alternative assessment approach in mathematics education has been presented. For this purpose, interviews were made with 30 classroom teachers to receive their opinions about the evaluation process mathematics lessons and the evaluation dimension in mathematics program. Interviews made with classroom teachers were analyzed by using qualitative study techniques. As a result of the study, it was determined that only students were evaluated in mathematics lessons, the effect of the classical approach was still observed, especially in evaluation process although the mathematics program was prepared according to the constructive approach, as a result of which multiple-choice test was used as the evaluation instrument. In addtion, an alternative assessment and evaluation approach was presented in mathematics education. The study is considered important also for the contribution it will make to R&D works of the MEB mathematics programs applied in our country.
