Abstract

In double-junction organic solar cells, the optical absorption of the back sub-cell is enhanced by coupling between the microcavity and surface plasmon polariton modes at the Ag/back sub-cell interface through the introduction of a periodic wavelength-scale corrugation into the device structure. The improved optical absorption of the back sub-cell leads to a balanced photocurrent of front and back sub-cells.
