Abstract

Preliminary results are reported, aimed to evaluate to which extent the field scattered by a breast tumour is affected by the choice of the matching fluid permittivity e f . The female breast has been modelled using highly accurate 3D numerical phantoms, and the forward electromagnetic scattering phenomena is studied via the Contrast-Source integral equation. The analysis reveals the influence of e f on the scattered field is dependent on the morphological characteristics of the breast under consideration.
