Abstract

Starting with Flamenco lessons in college, the author explores her childhood growing up in the southwest, a childhood filled with her Native American (Pueblo) heritage and the New Mexican and Mexican-Spanish influences both on her understanding of nature and creating her artwork. With focuses on insects, ultrasounds, and lowriders, the essay provides a look at the themes that drive the author’s sense of identity.
