Abstract

Master fields are formulated for finite- N QCD 3+1. They satisfy classical Yang-Mills equations with an infinite number of internal indices and an infinite number of constraints. In the large- N limit explicit solutions for these constraints are given and used as trial functions in the Hartree-Fock variational calculation which should be a good approximation for the study of gluon condensation effects in the QCD 3+1-vacuum.
