Abstract

Experimental techniques and results of an investigation of the composition of coal gases by electron-impact ionization mass spectrometry (EIMS) are described. Then EIMS measurements were performed on a setup with intersecting beams, ion separation and detection by monopole mass spectrometer, and modified source of ions. The main attention is devoted to the method of determining the temperature-dependent molecular composition of gases (including methane) evolved from carbonaceous rock.
