Abstract

Multiple rice body formation is most commonly observed in rheumatoid arthritis and occasionally in infections such as tuberculosis. However, nonspecific bursitis with multiple rice bodies is very uncommon. We report a case of an elderly woman who had nonspecific olecranon bursitis with multiple rice bodies. Although several authors have previously reported chronic subacromial bursitis with multiple rice bodies, to our knowledge, nonspecific olecranon bursitis with multiple rice bodies has not been previously reported in the English-language literature. Given such a rare case, we review the literature and discuss the mechanism and treatment.
