Since its founding in 1824, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary has been a major force in the evolution of the specialties of ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery. As ever, the story of an institution lies in the telling of the lives of the men and women who shaped the course of historical events during their time. These biographical sketches of Edward Reynolds, John Jeffries, Mary Coonahan, and Harris P. Mosher add a personal touch to the book.
