Abstract

The adsorption of four dyestuffs onto chitin has been studied. A model has been developed to explain the mass transport of dyestuffs onto chitin. The two-resistance mass transfer model is based on external film mass transfer and pore diffusion. Two solutions are presented: the first is a rapid analytical model which may be applied to adsorption systems in which the operating lines and tie lines terminate on the monolayer of the isotherm, assumed pseudo-irreversible; the second is a model which can be applied for any operating conditions but necessitates differentiation of the experimental concentration decay curve.
